Mermaid Style for Kids

Writing a post about mermaid style for kids is entirely selfish of me. I have sought out mermaid motifs for years before they came into the mainstream when it was still difficult to find appealing options that weren’t overly cartoony or gothic. Now that I have a daughter, I seek out these whimsical styles that scream childhood and indulge her in my favorites.   Every beach-loving baby fancies themselves a mermaid or merman. While merman designs are cropping up here and there these days, the market is still largely dominated by mermaids. While this post will focus on mermaids, we will continue to be on the lookout for gender-neutral options and mermen as inspiration for a future post.   Mermaid Clothing From party wear to play clothes, we found adorable options […]

Earth Day 2016

Earth Day isn’t the only day that we need to be conscious of the impact of our actions on the earth. We have several small changes you can make that will have a BIG impact on your environmental footprint and the world you leave your child.  Plant a tree. EarthDay.org is attempting to plant 7.8 billion trees worldwide to offset carbon footprints. The U.S. Geological Survey has planting tips for kids and resources to help you find inexpensive trees. Use a reusable water bottle. Did you know that more water is used to manufacture a plastic water bottle than the volume of water contained within the bottle? There are times when bottled water is safest or most convenient but for daily travels and school lunches use a […]

Easter Fashion

Several Easter holiday traditions do not have any root in Christianity, such as the Easter Bunny, Easter eggs, Easter candy, and the Easter Parade.  The Easter Parade originated in New York City in the mid 1800s when the upper class would attend Easter morning services decked out in their newest spring apparel and bonnets.  The Easter Parade in New York continues to this day and locals and visitors alike don their finest and join the processional.  Whether or not you have the opportunity to participate in a parade, the holiday is the perfect excuse to get the kids dressed up in the latest spring fashions and snap some family photos.   Baby & Toddler Apparel Pictured: Boden Spotty Appliqué Jersey Dress, Boden Crochet Pet Cardigan, Creme […]

Kids’ Umbrellas and Rain Boots

Today my mind is very much on rainy day essentials for kids, namely umbrellas and rain boots. It has been a drizzly and damp day in Chicago making me question whether I can muster the courage to go outside again. As I traipsed around the city this morning, I noticed a number of pint-sized umbrellas being lifted against the rain. I realized that as Spring showers take hold, my daughter is soon going to need something more than the umbrella attached to her stroller in order to stay dry. So I am using the current weather conditions as a reason to stay inside and do some very fun research. Below are some favorites rainy day essentials to keep kids dry this season.   Colorful When Wet The […]
